Today I wanted to share a post that is for my low sugar friends, my banana haters, and my smoothie bowl lovers. Everything about this banana-less smoothie bowl is delicious, refreshing and CREAMY.
For the longest time I thought bananas were the Holy Grail of smoothie bowls- they made the thick, creamy texture and added the sweetness. While this is still true, there are definitely other ways to make smoothie bowls without bananas! My personal favorite, and the ingredient I will be sharing with you today, is COCONUT YOGURT.
Coconut yogurt is the perfect ingredient to make the smoothie bowl thick and creamy, and it is a great source of healthy fats. It is super low in sugar (given, you get the unsweetened kind), so sweetness can be customized to your liking!
I have made my own coconut yogurt in the past (I will link the recipe I used here), and it is super delicious! However, for the sake of time and effort, I usually just go for the store-bought SoDelicious Unsweetened Coconut Yogurt- it has super clean ingredients and a great texture.
This smoothie bowl only has 5 simple ingredients (+1 optional), and then you can spice it up with whatever toppings you would like! I have been absolutely in love with this grain-free granola from Autumn’s Gold, linked here.

The Banana-less Smoothie Bowl

Total Time: 10 minutes
1.5 cups frozen blueberries
1 cup unsweetened coconut yogurt
2 Tablespoons water
1 Tablespoon ground flaxseed (amazing for skin and hair!)
1 Tablespoon chia seeds (amazing omega 3’s!)
OPTIONAL: Maple syrup or honey for sweetness
- Add all ingredients to a blender.
- Blend- you will have to stop/scrape/start a few times to make it thick and creamy.
- Transfer to a bowl and top with whatever you like!
