August Beauty Favorites || Just A Veg

Happy August, friends! I am almost back into school so life has been a bit hectic…but I’m starting my senior year of high school, so that’s very exciting!

Since the summer began, I switched up and tried out some new things in my skincare/beauty routine, and found a few faves to share with you all! With the summer heat, hydration has been super important for my skin, especially since I spend a lot of time at the beach and lake. Being super fair-skinned, I sunburn easily too!

I have really focused on healing my skin this summer; over the winter my acne worsened, my skin got blotchy and dry, and I simply wasn’t taking care of it the way I should. While I believe certain products helped my skin, I fully believe the what GOES IN to your body is displayed on your skin. I realized that over the winter I had developed habits and fallen into the trap of eating more processed foods, refined sugars, etc. REFINED SUGAR is definitely your skin’s worst enemy. So, the first thing I did was to limit (no, not eliminate, because, well, vegan ice cream) the amounts of refined sugar I was eating. That was change #1. Change #2- Next, I upped my water intake. Immensely. I now try to consume 2-3 liters of water every day, and drink 1 of them before I eat anything. Water is super important hydration as well as flushing out junk from your body, which will improve your skin. Change #3- I started eating more fruits and veggies. I know, I know, your typical tip, but it’s true! The more fruits and veggies you eat, the more nutrients your skin has the improve its elasticity, tone and clarity. Plus, eating more fruits and veggies makes your skin glow πŸ™‚

ok, so that’s how I started healing my skin. Next, I will show you some of my new favorite products that I have been using recently. I try to keep my routine simple, using cruelty free, natural products. I also only use 3 makeup products as of now, so I generally steer clear of clogging up my pores.

one note- not all of these products are for my face, just my skin/nails in general. πŸ™‚

Product #1: Mineral Fusion Nail Polish in Bubble

SONY DSC

Ok guys. I found a Vegan, 100% natural, cruelty free nail polish. Plus, it’s a cute color. Overall, it’s a miracle! I’ve seen more and more natural nail polishes popping up everywhere, and am so excited! To be honest, I rarely paint my nails, but when I do, I go for subtle yet cute colors like this one! It paints on super nice, it’s not clunky, and it’s chip resistant (something I definitely need haha). This one was from Whole Foods, but I think you can find it at Target too. You can also buy it on Amazon using the link here πŸ™‚

Product #2 – Nutista Coconut Oil and Doterra Lavender Essential Oil

SONY DSC

I’m taking it back to the ‘real simple’ thing I was talking about earlier. Like I said, I sunburn easily, and when I do, my skin tends to peel. It’s really annoying and actually quite disgusting, but I learned this hack from my friend to rub coconut oil on my burns, and I wouldn’t peel! So, the next time I got a little too much sun, I slathered on some coconut oil and shazam! I didn’t peel! Here I am to pass on the sunburn hack to all my fair-skinned friends πŸ™‚

I also love to mix my coconut oil with some lavender essential oil and use it in place of a lotion on my legs and arms. I honestly don’t love the feeling of lotion but can still get the hydration and the yummy scent with this combo!

You can buy this brand of coconut oil here, and the essential oil here.

Product #3- Pearlessence Coconut Rose Facial Oil

SONY DSC

The small bottle on the right works wonders. Over the past few months, I noticed that under my eyes the skin was really dry, and my moisturizer didn’t seem to help. I picked up this bottle at Marshalls, and figured I would give it a whirl.

Gosh, I absolutely adore this product now. It got rid of that dry skin under my eyes and also acts as a natural highlighter…It’s not tested on animals too!

Also, don’t be scared of putting oil on your face! Sure, putting excessive amounts may cause a breakout, but most of the time your face just gets the hydration it craves.

Here is a link to this product, but you might be able to find something similar at Marshalls, Target, or even Walmart.

Product #4 – EOS Travel Size Shave Cream inΒ  pomegranate-raspberry

SONY DSC

I know that this product has been around for sometime, and I have used it for forever, but it continues to be my favorite shaving cream, and the travel size makes traveling with natural products so. much. easier.

It smells delicious, doesn’t foam, ( it makes your skin super smooth), and has vitamin E in it, which is the super-vitamin for your skin. It’s also cruelty free and natural (A++). You definitely won’t regret having this in your toiletry bag for those summer weekend escapes.

Here is a link but honestly you could probably find this product at any department store or drug store. πŸ™‚

Product #5- Pearlessence Rose Water

SONY DSC

Ahhh, this one is definitely my favorite find. It smells amazing, hydrates my face, has super clean ingredients, is not tested on animals, is purely aesthetic, need I go on?

It also gives me the “dewy” look and acts almost as a setting spray. It can be used under or over makeup or just spritzed on for a mid-day freshen-up.

This was another Marshalls find (I love that store!) but here is a link.

All right, there are all my beauty finds! I hope you try them out and enjoy them as much as I do!

Let me know if you like product review posts/skincare posts and want to see more of them πŸ™‚

Much love and have a lovely week!

Love,
